SuperTab allows you to fully customize the Mac's built-in Command-Tab app switcher. Before SuperTab, the app switcher only gave you access to your currently active apps. With SuperTab installed, you now have access to a whole lot more when pressing Command-Tab, such as:
Active apps
App Windows
Recent apps
Recent documents
Recent folders
Dock items
Folder contents
Any files, folders or applications
Calendar Items
Dropbox items
Clipboard history
Multiple clipboards
Customizable screen shots
Web site shortcuts
Tagged items
Finder sidebar items
Saved spotlight searches
Display configurations
SuperTab also gives you powerful control over your applications by allowing you to configure any application to automatically:
Open itself to ensure it is running when users need it: during work hours, week days, week day evenings, weekend days or all the time.
Hide itself after it has been in the background for a user-selected time period.
Quit itself after it has been idle for a user-selected time period.
Prevent System Sleep or Screen Saver activation when it is the foreground application.
There's a lot more too!
Assign custom hotkeys to any file, folder or app -- as well as to many actions within SuperTab.
Preview Text, Image and PDF file contents directly within SuperTab.
Drill down into folders to access virtually any file or folder with ease.
SuperTab is a utility that comes as an alternative to using the Command+Tab key combination for accessing currently running apps on your Mac. This program also provides you with a quick way to launch utilities on your computer, access your favorite documents and folders, and check recent clippings directly from your desktop.
The app's main screen can be accessed by hitting the Command+Tab keys. Various sample Tab Rows will be displayed on your screen. You can customize the Tab Rows by adding or removing the elements you need. For example, you can create a Tab Row that contains your Dock items. The app is packed with several Tab Row sample profiles which can be displayed on your desktop if needed.
You can access additional program options by clicking the name of a Tab Row and selecting "SuperTab Settings" from the menu. From there, you can change the appearance of the Tab Rows (resize the rows, adjust opacity level, etc.), check the program's hotkeys, etc.
The only issue I have with this application is the fact that it occasionally takes a while to display the Tab Rows after hitting the Command+Tab keys.
Still, this program can definitely help you boost up your productivity as it offers you a very simple way to open apps, files, and folders. You should definitely give it a try if you want to work faster on your Mac.
SuperTab is described as 'When you press Command-Tab on your Mac, Apple provides you with a simple App Switcher:'. There are five alternatives to SuperTab for Mac. The best alternative is Dragthing, which is free. Other great apps like SuperTab are Command-Tab Plus (Paid), MultiDock (Paid), Thor (Free, Open Source) and LiteSwitch X (Free).
You have a few options when it comes to installing supertab: Use vim 8+ plugins: $ mkdir -p ~/.vim/pack/plugins/start $ git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/ervandew/supertab.git ~/.vim/pack/plugins/start/supertab Depending on your system you may also need to add packloadall to your ~/.vimrc. Use your linux package manager: Some linux distributions include a supertab package so you don't have to manage the install/upgrade of supertab separately from other software on your system. Use a vim plugin manager: There are several plugin managers for vim, which will either allow you to manually clone vim plugin repositories, or will do so for you. Probably the two most popular ones currently are pathogen and vundle. Please refer to their docs for instructions on how to install plugins.
